We at M&J Productions Inc. enjoy attending the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival each year. To us, the festival is about community, supporting filmmakers, and growing our business.
Back when M was new to town, Therapy screened at the #VIWIFF. She found the festival to be one of her favourites due to the strong sense of community.
For J, the community she discovered, through attending the #VIWIFF, cut some of the loneliness she felt having moved to Vancouver from Toronto and gave her a much needed dose of film inspiration.
Aside from the incredible curated films, M&J's favourite parts of the festival include:
-the panels, for the amazing information
-the artist talks, for getting to meet filmmakers
-the fireside chats, for getting to hear from industry professionals in a relaxed setting
-the pitch sessions, for the business opportunities
&
-the opening / closing galas, for networking
We'd like to stress the value of the following events in particular:
Artist Talks and Fireside Chats
If there's one thing to take advantage of that is unique to #VIWIFF it's these FREE opportunities to hear directly from content creators. The setting is casual and, in the past, filmmakers have opened up about their process, opportunities, and what inspires them to keep going.

Attending Opening and/or Closing night
For the broadest networking opportunity, shots on a red carpet, and being inspired by this amazing community of filmmakers, these two evenings are not to be missed!
