'Tea Granny' at Twelve

Tea time is all the time.

I enjoy many varieties to hydrate or caffeinate. Sometimes I mix: ginger, lemon, cinnamon, turmeric, cayenne, and honey, for an 'at home' throat remedy. I love the aroma, the gentle flavours, the sense of self-care I imbue upon making each cup.

Around age twelve is when my mom started calling me a Tea Granny, at the time this was the funniest thing ever. I would genuinely ask if she was drinking her Orange Polka which would make her laugh.

I have a friend named Kendall who is into the whole process of food. From planting, to cultivating, to the cooking and eating, her passion is infectious. She does really interesting things, like get involved with TED talks. At their most recent event in Vancouver, she was given a Fancy Water Boiling Device, which she kindly passed along to me. I've enjoyed trying each setting because I am the person who has all the tea all the time and this FWBD has made my loose leaf experience feel new again.

As a writer, sometimes I hit a wall. Instead of business time, J&I have FWBD time. Not quite as sexy but effective none-the-less.

Often as I stand waiting for the new FWBD my mind is relaxed and able to drift. It is during those moments when a new idea will come along and fit in nicely as the missing piece to whatever was causing the stumble.

Our tea breaks allow J & I to discuss moments, characters, and concepts. In being so relaxed we find the fun, the answer, the creative bridge to cross.

If you ever are feeling down, or blocked, or like you just need a break, I highly suggest brewing a good ol' cuppa. Don't forget to smell the contents first, like a fine wine, it is all part of the experience.

*M, You know when I'm down to my socks it's time for business, that's why they're called business socks. - J
